Money is not the only measure of success in life
For most people in our modern-capitalism world, money is the first thing, and sometimes the only thing that measures success in their life. Money can buy power. Money can buy fame. Money can buy time. Sometimes money can even buy a life. So money has become the first common goal for everybody. However, there is something else that can be the measurement of success in life.
One important thing that defines success in our lives is our careers. With different careers, we will have different goals and measurements of our success. If you are an athlete, your success can be measured by lots of things such as wining tournaments, breaking records, playing in the top league or competing in the Olympics. If you are a scientist, the success in your life will mostly depend on your researches. One line of formula that can prove your theory is true can be the great success in your life. If you are a writer, you will probably succeed if your book gets on the best-selling shelf in the bookstore or if your works get published in a magazine. If you are a musician, playing in the country’s orchestra or a number of your CDs that have been sold can be counted as the measurement of your success. So we can see that another measurement of success in your life besides money is how much you have succeeded in your career.
Success in human life is often measured by numbers. Therefore, everything that can be counted can be used as a measurement. Again, these measurements vary with each career. If you are an athlete maybe it is the number of tournaments or the number of matches you have won. But if you are a writer, it is probably the number of your books that have been sold out or if you are a musician it might be the number of your CDs. Sometimes it could be even a silly thing like the number of girlfriends you have. In fact, it is human nature that we always want to compare ourselves to others. In almost every career there is money involved, and maybe that is the reason why people always look at money as primary measurement of their success - they can easily compare it with the others.
The other measurement of success in our lives is awards. For the scientists one of the greatest accomplishments in their life is to win a Nobel Prize, for the writers there is the Pulitzer award, for actors and actresses there is an academy award, for musicians a Grammy’s and so on. These things are different from the other measurements in that it is judged by other people not ourselves.
Besides those measurements we can compare them with other people or let other people measure our success, sometimes just accomplishing our wishes or dreams can be measures of success in our lives. So it does not matter that you have won the world championships or just the tournament in your school, working in the biggest company in the country or just set up your small company. If it is your dream, you have already succeeded in your life.
The common goal in people’s life is to be peaceful and happy. Being the richest man in the world does not mean you are the happiest man in the world, although money can buy you happiness sometimes, but not always. So another measurement of success you are in your is how happy your life is. It might be having a warm family and children, having lots of friends or maybe just having someone who truly loves you.
In addition, as times change, the measurement of success in life also changes. For examples, wealth, thing that many people use to judge success in one’s life, is changing when time has passed. Thousands of years ago when humans were still a cavemen, it might have been how big you cave was. Hundreds of years ago it might have been how big your land was. Today it is how much money is in your bank account, so maybe in the future it might be something else.
In conclusion, the measurement of success in your live can be many things. It just depends on time, what goals you have and who is the one doing the judging Money is just the first common, one but it is not the only one.

ResponderEliminarMoney is not everything in life but does most things. Each person needs money to buy food, pay personal expenses and debts. For me money is important because it helps me buy things, pay studies, rent where I live. Without the money we are prevented from making some dreams that can only be obtained by means of money. Every day we try to educate ourselves as best we can to be able to have conocimientosy best to fulfill our dream of getting our own business or get better jobs. But thanks to the work, sacrifice and perseverance can achieve our successes.
ResponderEliminarIt is true that money is not everything in life, but how we can do if we don´t have money for buy everything we need, perhaps we should to make like our ancient peoples, who exchanged anything that they needed. But obviously, today we need to have money to pay our personal needs such as housing, food, clothing, education, and especially health, but none of it is forever, this is temporary, sometimes we see money as if we can buy eternity, but we need to know, that the money does not buy happiness and life. The truth is that when we die, we can´t go with the money, we go out alone, so Why we have ambition about the money, my advice is only we need to be happy, and give any money to people need helped.
ResponderEliminarA majority of people think money is the first thing, and sometimes the only thing that measures success in their life. It's true that money is important to meet our basic needs in life, but it's not the most important thing. It provides you only materialistic happiness which is neither real nor permanent. I think, Money is the easiest and most obvious measure of success. But, to define success in the end depends on the kind of person you are. I love to work and I value earning extra money. Yet, spending time with my family is the most important activity for me.

ResponderEliminarMoney is the basic need in our lives. Without money life is impossible on Earth. Money should only be earned through hard work. It makes everyone happy including you. The people around will appreciate your work, which makes you feel proud. You could even give gifts to others to make them happy. When they feel happy, you feel more happy. More money gives us joy and happiness but lack of money gives us pain and problems. That is why the more money you have the better life you can lead and you will also be happy. It is not the root of happiness Money is not the cause of happiness, sure, money can buy you possessions and pay your bills. But that's all it does. If you buying the latest playstation or phone gives you happiness, then you're getting it wrong. Happiness is feeling energised in the morning to fulfill you daily tasks, feeling motivated in everything you do. Money doesn't give you happiness, but if you're living in poverty then I can understand that money can actually make you happier, but it does not give you true happiness in our life the first think is our family
ResponderEliminarIt is truth that Money is not the only measure of success in life. Success in life has different meaning for each person and it´s measured in different scale for each one. As Carlos Slim said in an interview in the year of 2002, “Success is not measured by all the valuable materials that the money can buy or the important titles you have. The real success in life is how many people smile at you, how many people you love, how many people admire you for your honesty and the simplicity of your spirit and also, it is about your kindness and your wishes to help others”… Well, I have applied one these Carlos Slim’s definitions about the Success in my life and it is the money doesn´t give you or guarantee the real success in life. For me, the real success, as Carlos Slim mentioned, is about the kindness and the capability to help others. After my parent’s death, I have developed this capability to help others because I have had the big responsibility to take care of my oldest sister that is mentally sick. Taking care of a person who suffers from a mental disease is not an easy task. Dealing with this new challenge and taking care of my personal and professional life with good and satisfactory results, is a real success in life. No matter all the sacrifice I have to do, with money or without money, I can reach success because God give me the strength and wisdom to go further in life.
ResponderEliminarReading and trying to understand this short essay about this word "money" make me think that money can buy everything. But you think that money can buy happiness or love? In our daily life we see people get angry and furious because they do not have money. Money has become a very important thing in our life and some people think, if they do not have money they are nothing. Why? Because now in days you need money for: buy food, buy medicines, buy cloths and even the water costs.
ResponderEliminarAnother interesting point is education. If you have money to get a good education in a recognize school, you will success in your life and will be more easier to achieved your goal. I´m not trying to say that people that study in public school they can't achieved their goals, but the process will be more slowly and without motivation.
One of the problem in our society are the commerciants and the prices that everyday is going up. But we need to make decisions and efforts to success in our life with or without money. Be the person that we want to be. In summary, believe in what we are, if we want to be a taxi driver, or a futbol player, or a doctor, or a lawyer. Everything cost money and we can't change but don't stop dreaming and anchieve your goal because on day we can be the winner of the lottery and our life will change in one day. Cesar Lopez
In my opinion, our culture sends us two very conflicting messages about money. The first, a message that tells us money is everything. Celebrity culture, the rich and famous, Wall Street greediness, the twinge of jealousy we feel when we see a house bigger than ours, a car newer than our car. Then, there’s the completely opposite message, the one that treats wealth – and the wealthy with suspicion, that works hard to teach us not to envy them, to see the limitations that wealth has and the potential trouble it can cause. In some families, it gets to the point of feeling that money is somehow dirty, that it’s not a proper topic for conversation, that flaunting what you’ve got is tacky and that being poor is almost a virtue. But money is important, and here, today, I’d like to get all of us to agree on this one basic assumption. Whatever we feel about money, people with money, or the pursuit of money, can we at least agree that money is very important or what kind of money is important? but for now, will you agree with me that dismissing money as unnecessary is a mistake? To conclude my opinion, the money will be important for everyone according to the optics with which it looks, for my important it will be always the love and the relations of my family and friends over what the money could provide us... / Ernesto Quijada
